Dragonslayer Role-Playing Game
by Jacob
Publisher: OSR Publishing
Date Added: 04/14/2024 14:54:11
pixel_trans.gif Dragonslayer Role-Playing Game This book a nostalgia trip, and and an excellently done one. It is a love letter to the roots of tabletop RPGs, a reflection on how things were, and a rekindling of that spirit. Anyone looking to have some fun playing in a style that is very different from the games of the 21st century would do well with this book. The book flows like a story. It starts with an explanation of the state of the game, the attitude you should approach it if you want to have fun, then the standard races/classes section, a brief section on equipment, combat, spells, and then a very condensed section for game masters (there is a lot of it in a very short area). The book itself has good art, with a style harkening back to the late 1970s. The monster manual section is well appropriated with variety and plenty of enemies for players to contend with (and die to). The only criticism I can fairly level at the book is organisation, it feels like the sections run together, and a little more separation could help....

Letters to the Stars: An Epistolary RPG

pixel_trans.gif Letters to the Stars: An Epistolary RPG This game is right up my alley. It is an easily modified exercise in creating writing/gameplay set in space. I enjoy that it encourages a variety of ways to play (in person, via text, email, whatever). I will embarking on a solo playthrough that I document via physical letters I will mail to my brother's dog, who I have decided is the Lt. Commander in charge of Communication. Why not?

Cloudbreaker Alliance - Core Rulebook

pixel_trans.gif Cloudbreaker Alliance - Core Rulebook I bought this because it cited Sword World 2.5 as an influence - that is one of my favourite JRPGs. I'm glad I did. Solid 2d6 system and an intriguing setting. The book's layout is very good indeed in my view, making things easy to pick up. The writing is pretty good too - another proof-reading pass would perfect it.

pixel_trans.gif Hirelings: A Fantasy Heist RPG Great Idea. Great little game. It's easy to start up on and all the quirky little details of the character creation, the world, and the scenarios that get generated make for a really fun time. It's a great way to introduce RPG to new people and also really fun for experienced players.

The Winter Hell

pixel_trans.gif The Winter Hell This is my first time writing a review, so my English isn't that great and I apologize for any grammatical mistakes. This was my first time using the D6 system and it was quite a new experience. In fact, whenever I try a new rulebook, I often find myself struggling to explain the rules to my friends. It's not our native language, so it's a natural problem. Anyway, I really enjoyed my experience with Winterhell. It was quick to pick up, and I especially liked that it was full of playtips and stuff. The editing of the book was very good . The mechanics of the rules are very, very simple, but there's a lot to dig into. Oh my gosh, the amount of detail kept a smile on my face the whole time I was looking at it. If you're on the fence about buying it, I highly recommend it. I also purchased the physics book, which hasn't arrived yet, but I can't wait to get it on my shelf. With love from Korea...

Highway to Hell

pixel_trans.gif Highway to Hell So I really like what this book is laying down. I would like more items and feats just because that's how we really get the PCs to fit in the world. I would probably buy a second book with just MORE. I also wish there was a little more information on actual character management more details on leveling up, starting off, etc. What's in the book just seems happenstance. We can figure it out, but having it in front of you would be nice. This book could have easily doubled in size. I enjoy reading it so much I'm currently building the NPCs in Hero Forge and building the highway of ash and bone and the circles of hell in Tale Spire as well. It was very inspiring and if I don't run this, I plan on using it's ideas to run my own setting (but I really want to run this)....

Planescape Campaign Setting (2e)
by Mats H.
Publisher: Wizards of the Coast
Date Added: 04/14/2024 10:05:28
pixel_trans.gif Planescape Campaign Setting (2e) **Quality of Print:** The reprint of the Planescape Campaign Setting as a book offers outstanding print quality. Despite the original being a box set with various components, the images and text in this edition are bright and clear, ensuring that none of the vibrant artwork and detailed descriptions are lost. For those looking to recreate the box set 100%, I recommend purchasing the PDF version alongside the print to assemble the various maps and handouts, as they come in the back of the book, and I would not want to put a razor to this book to get them out. **About the Book** True to the spirit of many second edition Dungeons & Dragons products, this campaign setting is densely packed with lore, the Planescape universe feels alive in this book and rather than focusing heavily on game mechanics, you get an ambience that 5e is lacking. This book is a must-have for any fan of the Planescape universe or collectors of D&D historical editions. Its detailed portrayal of the cosmos a...

It is a great scan as well, high quality pictures and bright colors. Excellent work on whomever did this. Now, can we get this adventure trilogy in a Print on Demand?

d20 Modern Core Rulebook (d20M)
by Mats H.
Publisher: Wizards of the Coast
Date Added: 04/14/2024 09:48:05
pixel_trans.gif d20 Modern Core Rulebook (d20M) **Quality of Print:** The d20 Modern Core Rulebook impresses with its solid hardcover and impeccable print quality. The images are clear, and the text is highly readable, making it a durable addition to any gamer's collection. **Product Review** d20 Modern is a weird sidetrip in the D20 history. Its attempt to adapt D&D mechanics to a variety of contemporary and futuristic settings makes it a fascinating study for enthusiasts, but unless you have a group that is eager to do some d20 Modern, it is very much for the hardcore fans. **Personal Experience: ** Already possessing Urban Arcana and the Menace Manual, acquiring this core book was essential for me to utilize my existing collection fully. Very happy I could get a print copy of this. Would also buy d20 Weapons Locker, d20 Future, d20 Past, d20 Apocalypse, and d20 Future Tech if these showed up as Print on Demand....

Ruins of Zhentil Keep (2e)
by Mats H.
Publisher: Wizards of the Coast
Date Added: 04/14/2024 09:33:48
pixel_trans.gif Ruins of Zhentil Keep (2e) I had this box set as a kid, and remember loving reading it. - I am very pleased with the way this book has been put togheter, the quality of the print is very high and don't seem to have any issues that the PDF seems to have based on the discussion here. Reading it now, I am not sure if the focus on this product was as good as say The North, or Spellbound, both of whom are amazing. The campaign book of Zhentil keep is more about a History of the Keep and it's current state, along with information the Zhentarim as a whole, magic items and some npcs. The second part of the book is an adventure, and some new monsters. This means that a destroyed city gets about as writing about it as Waterdeep does in City of Splendors box set. Is it worth the money? Ohyes, it's a solid print and great for anyone interested in the history of Zhentil Keep or the Zhentarim, but it is not the best Box Set in 2ed. ...

RR3 Van Richten's Guide to Vampires (2e)
by Mats H.
Publisher: Wizards of the Coast
Date Added: 04/14/2024 08:46:34
pixel_trans.gif RR3 Van Richten's Guide to Vampires (2e) Van Richten's Guide's are perhaps some of the best Lore books in the D&D bibliography, and *To Vampires* is among the best of them. The highlighted review does a great deep dive into all the aspects of this book, and I cannot improve on that. I do want to highlight that this book does not have the title on it's spine, something *Warewolves* and *Created* - This makes it a bit of an eyesore in the bookshelf. - But content wise, 10/10.

pixel_trans.gif Shadow of the Weird Wizard Pretty good, not sure what people's issue with the layout is as it seems fine. Some of the art is rather meh but other than that pretty cool system, I like how you combine the different paths to make unique combinations. Also don't mind having only Human's in the core book as it limits the traveling menagerie of twee races plot contrivances.
