Heroic Maps - Storeys: Upper Lockgold Street

Heroic Maps - Storeys: Upper Lockgold Street Another fantastic set of maps from Heroic Maps! This one is something I don't think we've seen from any other publisher - an upper-class neighborhood! A bank, a courthouse, a library, a fancy store and an upscale restaurant, plus a couple of apartment homes. Very nice contrast to some of the slum maps out there. It's made even better by the "Storeys" format because all of the buildings include upstairs and downstairs, and several have connections to the sewers below for those in need of a quick getaway or a surreptitious entry. This will be a great map for all kinds of urban adventures, from bank heists to getting hauled in front of a magistrate, to investigation and mystery plots. Or maybe the PC just want a house on the nicer side of town. Great maps. Now I just hope they eventually become available in printed card format. :)...

Winter Adventures I wanted to test out the structural quality of the models, and decided to start with the simple tree. Due to several restrictions (mainly because I only had means to print in black and white on plain bond paper) I was resigned to ending up making a big mess out of my first "experiment": I glued my plain paper print to cardboard, then did some coloring, then glued on itself and folded, then cut, then assembled. Also, I only had cheap (and old) white school glue at hand. I wasn't expecting much, and I didn't try too hard. Amazingly, the structure still held up firmly enough despite my laziness. The structures are well-thought, the PDFs are professionally generated, the resolution seems to be adecuate. I've yet to try actually following the suggestion in the "Beginner's Guide to card modelling" PDF (included). Starting by actually printing directly into cardboard. This product being free is definitely a smart move by Fat Dragon Games to show the quality of their work....

Trains: Wild West There is 1 reason why I'm giving this product a 1 star review: https://puu.sh/xduCK/22d230e19d.jpg As you can see, this product has a hardcoded ground and track texture built into all of the images. Unfortunately this is not exactly VTT friendly, as you can also see. The product linked below is on the left and works a charm, since it has a transparent background it can fit into any scene I want to put it into. The other product is half the cost right now at $2 vs $4 as well. I urge anyone looking for train maps to buy the other product unless the publisher updates with a proper set of images for VTT use. If that happens I will update my review. Product with transparent backgrounds for less money: http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/151326/1880s-Train-Car-M-

Blood & Plunder This review is for the PDF, NOT the game! The game is awesome and I give the GAME 5 stars!!! The PDF needs work though. It is locked so you can't bookmark anything and there are no bookmarks or links natively. The additional files from the website are not in the TOC either. That said, like the hard cover book, the artwork is great and the example pictures are very helpful. Having the errata and index within the same document is much better that having to look through three (or more) documents to find something. Hopefully there will be an update to this file and I will update my review to relflect it....

ar-the-chosen-slain-einherjer-zum-schutz-der-menschheit/ -

Song of Blades and Heroes

Date Added: 08/12/2017 13:43:38
Song of Blades and Heroes Song of Blades and Heroes has an excellent premise and good basic mechanics. Unfortunately some parts of the rules are poorly worded so they are difficult to understand. For example, I didn't realize a defending miniature can knock down or kill its opponent when it is attacked on my first reading. The other frustrating part of the book is its constant references to supplements and other publications by the author. It tells you you can give a unit an ability like illusionist, tower shield, or music, but doesn't explain what those abilities do. This is annoying and makes the game feel unfinished. ...

Fistful of Lead: Horse& Musket
by Jamie B.
Publisher: Jaye Wiley
Date Added: 08/11/2017 22:41:14
Fistful of Lead: Horse& Musket Nice, simple rules for pre- repeating firearms-era skirmish battles of around a half dozen models on a side. Nicely adapts and expands the Fistful of Lead Old West era with more detailed rules for hand-to-hand combat and muzzle-loaders, among other things. it's an exciting and fun way to use a few models to create battles ranging from the 1700s to the early Victorian era. However, the editing is terrible, with multiple obvious typos. It's embarrassing, especially given that this is also a print product, and, one assumes, the print edition went out this way. A single pass by a copyeditor could have fixed this. Why one wasn't used I don't know, but it doesn't give me a lot of confidence when the publisher lacks the respect for his customers to put out a finished product. If it were a freebie product this would be more understandable, but I have numerous free or very inexpensive rulesets with less errors. That the errors still aren't fixed even though the prduct has been out for mo...

Altar of Freedom
by Brenton S.
Publisher: Greg Wagman
Date Added: 08/09/2017 05:28:49
Altar of Freedom Altar of Freedom is a American Civil War tabletop wargames rules set. The author has pitched his rules at the Grand Tactical level and has focussed the rule mechanisms accordingly. The mechanisms are deceptively simple but work to provide a very satisfying result. The game focusses on command decisions of the Army commander so a lot of the detail is abstracted. They are designed for small scale figures on large bases, but I am using 15mm with minimal adjustments. Units are brigades and battalions of artillery. Units do not lose figures as casualties but do accumulate Fatigue Markers which can be rallied off when the Division is pulled back out of the action and regrouped. The most innovative aspect is the Priority Points system which involves commanders allocating a limited number of points per turn to Divisions - the more they have the earlier in the turn they will move. But as there is also a variable aspect to the turn length commanders cannot guarantee that all their Divi...
