Friday Night Fights 2nd Edition

Friday Night Fights 2nd Edition If you're in the mood for a boxing game, this is a great way to fill the time. Up front, If you're going to play solitiare matches you need lots of dice. A whole lot of dice. The rules themselves are fairly quick and easy to pick up. Once you've got the core loop the play is extremely quick and exciting. Due to the way the stats function, even AI boxers tend to fight differently. Special notice should go to the Bonus Dice mechanic that allows players to gain advantages on any roll. These work really well during multiplayer matches because they add a real stategic aspect to the dice-chucking fight. This just fall a bit short in solitaire because the AI tends to blow their energy in the first couple rounds. It feels a bit easy to exploit this fact, though it hasn't dulled my enjoyment at all. I'll just likely house rule some things to let the AI recover between rounds. This will keep it fairly unpredictable and hopefully work as well as the multiplayer fights....

Blood on the Blade

Blood on the Blade This one managed to surprise me in alot of ways despite being a veteran of the genre. It takes well known concepts and snaps them together in a unique fashion. Whether it's the (Potentially frustrating) chit draw initiative or the system for getting damage and hit rolls with one roll it manages to stand out. The core rules play well and lead to some genuinely interesting encounters. Each faction has it's own feel and they present unique challenges. This isn't to say that it's without a little clunkiness here and there, but the experience outweighed th eissues. The campaign play itself is pretty good. The character growth is fun and there's a great feeling of raising your warband. That said, It benefits from a bit of decision making from time to time. It'll help if you're not afraid to say things like "Oh, this ambush is related to my last quest so I'm facing -that- army". rather than always rolling for opposition. Overall, I've had a blast with this game and I highly recommen...

Heroic Maps - Storeys: Scrivener Street The artwork, as in all Heroic Maps products, is astounding and truly adds to the feel of realism during game play. I love writing my own adventures for the small three-person group we have on Wednesday & Thursday nights, and Scrivener Street almost pens a story by itself! The incredible detail makes it easy to conjur up ideas & directions for adventurers to go without having to imagine thinmgs that aren't there. Even the great out-of-focus sreets and of lower ground level areas make it obvious to players that they're on an upper floor. I've got some work ahead of me as I put together an in-town adventure story, but that work is going to be easier because of the beautifully detailed art created by the people at Heroic Maps. My thanks to everyone there!...

Silent Death: The Next Millennium I find that this huge manual has an enormous amount of background fluff. The rules are straightforward, but i think there should be a simpler 'quick starter' section.

Blood on the Blade Blood on the Blade is a really great, fast playing, unique miniatures combat system. I've played a lot of these types of games but this system manages to add some really new ideas... enough to keep me coming back for more. The built in campaign generator is a nice addition as well. The author has plans for expansions and has already supported his game with a free supplement that adds some new rules and a Challenge system for use in between campaign plots. Looking forward to more from Studium CMLXV and his Blood on the Blade line for sure!...

Star Patrol Micro A very challenging game for a single page microgame. I ran four patrols, and I was only able to finish one patrol with my ship intack. The rules are simple to learn, but you will need to strategize on when to fight and when to run. If you can run. On some patrols you wish you had a few more missles.

Babylon - Hospital Green Definitely a good buy, I have thoroughly enjoyed building these models, and have subscribed to the Dave Graffam FB page to show off some of my buildings, and get inspiration from other builders. Dave Graffam is very responsive to input, he sent me a missing panel file as soon as I told him about it. Very pleased with both the product, and the service.

Fletcher's Shop Paper Model One of my first purchases from Dave Graffam Models and I am very pleased. I found the instructions to be clear and the building process was straight forward. I built 2 of these one Saturday and I think I spent more time designing the buidlings with the layer system than I took to actually put them together :) I was surprised that even the extras (boxes, cart, etc) had a few customizing options. This is a very versatile model and can easily be used for shops, storehouses, and homes. With 3 different walls, 3 different roofs, and window, chimney, and door options, multiple printed versions can still look very unique on the gaming table - especially once you start adding all the extra detail bits like crates, lumber piles, and carts. I play 28mm medieval, dark age, and fantasy skirmish, and I feel that this model works well for all three of these (it would also work well for WWI and WWII)....

Elven Papercraft - Crystal Expansion This template is fantastic. Not only is it creative but has some technical usages that allow you to take a single product and change it's colors and 2d textures to estensibly give you multiple products. I was fortunate enough to be afforded this product from a free or pay what you want type sharing. I absolutely have been inspired to take a look at their other products. The only suggestion in terms of improvement on this particular product would be if you could toggle off all colors and textures to print off a clear transparent, line art type print for a blank more customizable personal touch on the consumer's part. Thanks for a great product, guys!...

Star Patrol Micro This game was super addictive. The rules were easy to get into and it was well balanced. I was surprised how deep the strategies actually went. One second I'm thinking I've got it down and the next I'm neck deep in new ideas. It was fun.

0one's Blueprints: The Galley The floor plans are not mini-friendly, and areas aside from the main deck are not mapped at all. the elevations ofthe ship are all very nice, but are of no use to the average gamer. I have liked many of Oone's products in the past, but this is one you can skip.
