They came from nowhere - literally!

Invaders from Dimension X! is a solitaire game (with a two-player option) that begins the story of the brutal war between the invading alien Kay’otz race and the only human force capable of defeating them – the “Old Reprobates” of the 124th Galactic Marine Raider Battalion. You control the various Marine squads, each with a specialized skill, as they fight their way through an alien enemy that is totally unpredictable. The Kay’otz come from another dimension of space and do not behave in a way humans can comprehend. Only with perseverance and skillful strategy – and yes, some good fortune – will you be able to eventually discover the plans and tactics of these mysterious beings.

Invaders from Dimension X! is an easy game to play and is suitable for players 12 years old and up.  There are two Battle scenarios and one Campaign scenario included in the game and each can be completed in about an hour or two (depending on the scenario played). This game package contains one map sheet (with two separate maps printed front and back), eighty-eight counters and one 8-page rule book. You will need to provide some six-sided dice to play the game – along with enough backbone, brains and wits to defeat this vile alien enemy.

Printing solution for counters/map:

1. Use the free version of Adobe Acrobat (Adobe created the .pdf format)

2. print counter files using “Size” - “Actual size” print setup (page bleed should be enough to print properly on A4/Letter paper sizes for most printers)
2.a. If above fails (i.e. counters are clipped), use the "Size" - "Fit" print setup

3. print the files using the "Poster" print setup (it will split the file into 4 smaller A4/Letter pages)

I am a dead stop. The PDF file is not manageable with my PC setup. I will have to acquire SW which costs more than the game to print PDF in separate 8.5 x 11 pages. Any suggestions?

The reference below will not open downloaded PDFs - http://posterazor.sourceforge.net/

Per my previous comment:

"One convenient solution for such images is the program called PosteRazor (http://posterazor.sourceforge.net/), which takes an image as input and creates a PDF from that image"

PosteRazor takes images, not PDFs, as input, but exporting the pages of a PDF as images does not require paying for any software. Gimp, Inkscape, ImageMagick, and any number of other Open Source/cost-free graphics software packages can export the pages of PDFs to images. i've done most of my Tiny Battle Publishing print-and-play counter surgery using Inkscape.

A word of warning to non-US users (i.e. those who use A4 paper): the counter sheets, as provided, do not fit on A4 paper. If they're printed in landscape orientation (as intended), the last row of counters (Vermite events and the Mad Scientist) gets truncated. Here's a partial workaround: each of the two countersheet PDFs (one for front, one for back) includes two copies of that side of the counter sheet. Printing them in PORTRAIT orientation will print a full copy of the left-most block of counters and will truncate the right-side block. Printing both PDFs this way will result in 1.5 sets of counters (as opposed to the 2 sets which would fit on US letter). The major down-side to that approach is that the lines along the right edge of the countersheet, used for lining up the front and back sides, get truncated along with the right-most counters, so lining them up properly will prove challenging.

Edit to the above comment: "(Vermite events and the Mad Scientist)" is an incorrect a reference to a different counter sheet.

Stephan, the 5/8" counters for this game are printed in connected rows of eight counters each, as opposed to the singly spaced counters for Rifles in the Ardennes.

Can someone who's seen this PDF tell me whether the counters are laid out in a manner which is conducive to constructing them from printouts? e.g. are there gaps between each counter (boo!). i'm interested in this game, but very uninterested in spending 3+ hours on getting the counters assembled (like i did for this publisher's Rifles in the Ardennes PDF).

Could do with the maps being multi page for home printing instead of just single jpegs.

One convenient solution for such images is the program called PosteRazor (http://posterazor.sourceforge.net/), which takes an image as input and creates a PDF from that image, split up into multiple pages based on various configuration options you give it (paper size, margins, amount of print overlap). It's super-easy to use.

Fantastic Solo Sci Fi wargame! Very simple to understand, easy to play and hard as hell to win! The 2 scenarios included have a lot of replayability due to the mechanics that propose random elements with every action the Invaders take. It truly feels like you are on the path to victory when the Invaders set on the right location to defeat you just in time. Tons of flavor, nice map and gorgeous gameplay! It´s a must for any board gamer that wants to iniciate into wargames!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
